PAST SPEAKERS

Every DO Lecture event features some of the most amazing DOers in the world speaking and leading workshops.

Maria Popova

Maria is the founder and editor of Brain Pickings; an inventory of cross-disciplinary interestingness spanning art, science, design, history, philosophy, psychology, and more. She has written for Wired UK, The Atlantic, Nieman Journalism Lab, The New York Times, Smithsonian Magazine, and Design Observer, among others, and is an MIT Fellow. She is on Twitter as @brainpicker.

Cheryl Strayed

Cheryl Strayed is the NYT best selling author of cult favorite WILD (which by the way, is the first selection to the Oprah Winfrey Book Club 2.0). In it, Cheryl recounts her solo trip hiking the Pacific Crest Trail in 1995. She was 26 years old and in a state of crisis, separated from her husband and grieving for her mother, who had recently died of cancer at 45.

Tina Roth Eisenberg

Tina grew up in the mountains of Switzerland but moved to NYC to work as a graphic designer in 1999. She worked in various prominent design firms to then start her own design studio in 2006.

With the birth of her second child in 2010 she decided to take a client sabbatical to focus on her various side projects. The hiatus has been extended indefinitely and Tina now runs four businesses out of DUMBO, Brooklyn.

Tina runs a collaborative workspace called Studiomates, organizes a global, monthly lecture series called CreativeMornings, is the inventor of the to-do app TeuxDeux, and just recently changed the world of temporary tattoos with her latest project Tattly.

Tina is often referred to as Swissmiss after her popular design blog which is also the name of her Twitter handle.

Peter Farrelly

After graduating from the Kent School in Connecticut, Farrelly studied business at Providence College, where he faired rather poorly as a student while excelling at partying. Despite his shiftless lifestyle, Farrelly did harbor a desire to become a writer. Following a brief stint in Las Vegas, where he wrote like a maniac, Farrelly returned to the East Coast where he finished his first novel.

Farrelly graduated from Columbia with a master’s in fine arts and moved to Los Angeles soon after, where he began writing screenplays. Not long after his arrival in the City of Angels, Farrelly landed a development deal with writing partner, Bennett Yellin, and later was joined by brother Bobby. The two – who collectively became known as the Farrelly Brothers.

Together with his brother they have written, directed, and produced several comedy films including There’s Something About Mary, Dumb and Dumber, Kingpin, Shallow Hal, Me Myself & Irene, Stuck on You, Fever Pitch, Hall Pass, The Three Stooges as well as their latest release Dumb and Dumber To.

WHAT TO EXPECT

WHERE WILL I SLEEP?

Your accommodation for Thursday the 27th, Friday the 28th and Saturday the 29th of July is included in the ticket price of $1800.00.

We have eight remarkable tipis that have hosted some of the worlds finest Doers and this July you’ll get to experience them as they did.

Each tipi is set up prior to your arrival with a canvas flooring, homey carpets, solar lights and camp beds. Bed sheets, pillows, sleeping bags and a blanket will be provided. It gets cold at night so we recommend you pack a warm fleece, thick socks and a beanie so you can sleep comfortably.

There are typically five – six people per tipi. It’s quite simple, if you are a bloke you will be with the guys and if you are a lady you will be with the chicks.

There are private outdoor showers so you can look up at the oak trees as you wash. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are provided.

Campovida also allows access to their amazing outdoor swimming pool.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

Everything you should need for this four day experience is taken care of and a community of friends forms fast as days turn to dusk around the campfire.
We will be sending out a list of what to bring in June.
